Debit cards & Expedited Disaster Assistance Funds Applications
for affected Calgary residents starts today - Sunday June 30, 2013.
Pre-loaded Debit cards for Calgary flood evacuees at locations & dates below:
Sun, June 30: 1 pm - 9 pm - households with last names starting with A to L
Mon July 1: 8 am - 8 pm - households with last names starting with M to Z
Tues July 2: 8 am - 8 pm
Bowness High School 4627 - 77 St NW
Connaught School 1121- 12 Ave SW
Queen Elizabeth High School 512 - 18 Street NW
You should FIRST register as an evacuee with Canadian Red Cross or call 1-866-696-6484
BRING THE FOLLOWING:
Social Insurance #(SIN) card for adults in the household
Photo ID for you & your spouse/ partner(driver's license, passport, student or employee ID)
Proof of family relationship with spouse/partner & dependents
(ex - health care card, marriage license birth certificate, passport)
Proof of residence - that your main residence is in an evacuation zone
(ex -car registration, insurance papers, utility bills, lease or rental receipt)
NOTE: If you don't have these items, you can still get a card by making a statutory declaration.

Debit cards ($1,250 per adult & $500 per child) have no specific rules on spending.
They can be used at ATMs, debit machines & for online purchases.
You can withdraw up to $400 at a time.
Calgary Disaster Recovery Assistance Funds starts Tues July 2nd
To get initial funding to residents ASAP, the government has removed the need for municipalities to 1st apply on behalf of residents, & for inspections of damage to occur before payments are made.
These requirements will be addressed later & initial payments should be received in 7 - 14 days.
Tenants can also receive an initial payment if they provide official government I.D. & proof of residence.

Government-issued photo I.D. (ex - Driver’s Licence )
List of damaged property & estimated sqft of your home.
Alternate mailing address if you aren't living there.
If available bring: letter from insurance co. confirming losses are uninsurable,
property tax assess., photos, & list of damaged property.
